REASeuro WORLDWIDE started UXO-clearance in Croatia
Close to Zagreb in April 1994 a military ammunition depot exploded. REASeuro WORLDWIDE has been given the order to clean the site. The explosion of the depot caused a damage on an area of about 20 hectare and a large amount of several kinds of UXO have been spread. Because of the explosion a part of the ammunition is detonated, but also a big part has been hurled away for miles around. After the explosive the Croatian have started to remove the most visible UXO. They stopped this work at the end of 1994 and the suspected area has been pegged out.
Ad van Riel (Managing director):"As we inspected the area for the first time, it was immediately clear that before starting the UXO clearance, we first had to make the area passable. The vegetation of the area was enormous, so we could not start immediately with detection. Activities which we first did were: creating roads to the working area, create a logistic location, make a fence around the area, create a safe depot for the ammunition and find a place where the ammunition could be destroyed."
REASeuro WORLDWIDE started together with REASeuro Netherlands half July 2009 to remove the UXO. The project contains searching the UXO and destroying UXO on the project location, so the whole process from detecting until destroying.
"In this project we daily find enormous amounts of ammunition and we have to destroy the UXO regularly to be able to get through the amounts we find," so says Jacco de Graaf (Senior UXO-expert).
After the area has been cleaned, the client wants to build here a new residential area.
Below you will find some pictures of the working area and the found ammunition.
